Communication
Related: Theatre at Jewell
The Department of Communication encourages participation from all students. Unlike many schools, William Jewell allows you as a first-year student to actively participate in the department. From the newspaper staff to theatre productions, debate or the campus radio station, you will find our students are active participants in our programs. You will not only receive a solid communication background but also the critical-thinking skills, creative-thinking skills, interpersonal skills and organizational abilities that lead to a successful future.
You may choose from majors including communication, organizational communication, communication with an electronic media emphasis, communication with a theatre emphasis, speech education, theatre education and theatre.
Scholarships are offered to both majors and non-majors wishing to participate in newspaper, radio, theatre and debate. In addition, scholarships may increase in value each year depending on the quality of work.
Internships As a complement to your classroom work in communication, internships allow you to experience the business world firsthand. Jewell's close proximity to Kansas City allows you to experience internships at such companies as Sprint, Hallmark, the Kansas City Chiefs, The Kansas City Star, all major electronic media affiliates and the Missouri Repertory Theatre. |
