Cally Aspegren has signed a Letter of Intent to compete as part of the William Jewell College cross country program in the fall of 2009.
A native of Osage City, Kan., Aspegren attends Osage City High School. She is a three-time state qualifier and this past season she finished 13th at the State Tournament. She also has earned The Most Valuable Runner award four years in a row and was a multiple All-Area and All-League Runner.
“Cally will be very competitive at this level and also through the transition to NCAA Division II,” said head coach Tom Eisenhauer. “She’s a hard worker with a big heart.”
In the classroom, Aspegren was a four-time scholar athlete and a member of the 2008 Kansas Academic All-State Cross Country team.
Aspegren intends to pursue a major in Psychology at William Jewell and is excited about continuing her running career at Jewell.
“I love the campus, the people, and what all Jewell has to offer,” said Aspegren. “I am excited about running in college while working toward my degree at William Jewell.”

Monica Gharis has signed a Letter of Intent to compete as part of the William Jewell College cross country program in the fall of 2009.
A native of The Colony, Texas Gharis attends The Colony High School. She has been a member her high school cross country team for the last three years. She was named captain of the team her junior and senior years. She also has qualified for The USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships in 2007 and 2008 respectively.
“Monica’s leadership in the classroom and on the cross country course will be a great contribution to next year’s young team,” said Head Coach Tom Eisenhauer. “We are thrilled to add Monica and her family to our program.”
Off the course, Gharis has been involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Peer Assistance and Leadership and National Honor Society.
