FAQ’s—William Jewell College Evening Division
Q. When can I enroll? Do I have to apply and fill out paperwork first?
A. You may enroll for any up-coming term as soon as the schedule for that term is posted on this Web site under “Schedules” found in the top right hand corner of the Evening Division page. For evening courses for our adult students, you need not apply nor go through an admission process. We make enrolling very easy for our adult students, most of whom already have some college work completed and are self-motivated. Do note below that early in your studies you should see one of our advisors and have your transfer credit evaluated.
Q. What about costs?
A. Beginning summer 2008 tuition is $270 per credit, plus books and a few lab fees as noted on the schedule. Online courses are $300 per credit hour, plus books and lab fees as noted on the schedule.
Q. What can I enroll in?
A. You determine this using, if necessary, the help of our advisors whose email links and phone numbers are posted on the bottom of this page. Some classes have pre-requisites and you should be mindful of them. Those courses that have pre-requisites are listed in the evening catalog which can also be accessed online.
Q. How many courses should I take in a semester?
A. Most students can take two courses (six to eight credit hours) in the fall and spring and still keep up with their work and family responsibilities. In the summer, three to six credit hours is a typical load. Generally, you can complete 18 to 24 credits a year.
Q. How often do classes meet?
A. One, two, and three credit classes meet one night a week. Four credit classes meet twice a week at either six or eight o’clock. Our schedule of classes—as is listed in the catalog for the fall and spring—stays the same year after year to make your scheduling and planning easier.
Q. What if I have transfer credits?
A. Contact Patti Dietrich or Steve Schwegler whose contact information is listed below. They have over thirty years of experience in advising adult students and they were both adult students themselves in their own degree programs. They understand your needs and questions.
Q. What about other questions I have?
A. Give us a call at 816-415-5001 or email us at dietrichp@william.jewell.edu or schweglers@william.jewell.edu . We are available in the evenings to meet with you and show you our historic campus.
