Apply for Financial Aid
William Jewell strongly encourages all students to apply for financial aid. Because so many students come from two-income families, some of whom have more than one child in an educational setting simultaneously, it is not unusual for families with incomes totaling $80,000 to $100,000 or more to qualify for need-based aid. In addition, Jewell has a broad array of merit awards based on academic profile, musical talent, athletic participation, or involvement in various student activities, such as debate, theatre and art.
While each financial aid package is determined according to the specific needs and qualifications of each student, William Jewell works with prospective students to ensure that eligibility for all forms of assistance are carefully considered.

Receive an Estimate of Your Eligibility
Your Financial Aid and Scholarship Services staff can provide you an early estimate of your aid eligibility if you have completed an application for admission and scholarship. Because federal notification of 2010 aid eligibility may not be available to you before March 1, 2010, completion of an Early Estimator will help you gain a better understanding of all forms of assistance for which you may be elgibile. Any student wishing to receive an official communication about talent-based merit scholarship before March 1, 2010, should submit both the Application for Admission and Scholarship and an Early Estimator. Early Estimator's for 2010 will be reviewed beginning in November 2009.
Important Financial Aid Award Information
William Jewell College has an awarding philosophy that is based in fairness and provides each family with the College's best financial aid package at the outset of the process. Each package is based upon the information provided to the College by the family and based upon the awards for which the student is eligible. Therefore, the College does not negotiate over financial aid packages.
Grants and scholarships can cover up to full-tuition only.
Being recommended for an award by a particular program does not guarantee that the grant / scholarship will be awarded in full or in part.
Many grants and scholarships require the student to sign and adhere to a contract of commitment to the particular major / program. This contract requires the student to participate in order to maintain the grant / scholarship. Students who fail to participate at the expected level may be subject to the loss of that particular award.
Financial aid proceeds will be applied against all student charges including tuition, fees, room and board shown on the student account. In addition, financial aid proceeds will be applied to cover allowable charges other than tuition, fees, room and board unless the student (or parent as the borrower of a Federal Parent Loan) provides the William Jewell College Business Office a statement in writing requesting these other charges not be paid with financial aid proceeds. This written request will take effect on the date that the Business Office receives it and is not retroactive.
