 Hall of Fame: Warren L. “Bud” Lathrop

Warren L. “Bud” Lathrop

Induction: October, 2001
Warren Lathrop attended Jewell from 1954-58 and lettered in both cross country and basketball. He played on three MCAU Championship basketball teams. The 1955 squad won Jewell’s first title in 30 years. Lathrop was a career scoring leader when he graduated with 1709 points scored. His highest scoring game was played as a sophomore and he scored 37 points. This was a school record at the time. The 1957 squad was the first in Jewell history to play in the NAIA National Tournament. Unfortunately the team lost in the second round. Lathrop was a MCAU All-Conference selection twice. He is currently the head coach at Raytown-South High School and has the most wins of and high school coach in the history of boys basketball in the state of Missouri.
