Kevin Cheadle graduated East High School in Kansas City Missouri in 1982. Standing at 6’3” when he graduated from high school, Cheadle turned down several junior college offers to play basketball and instead worked full-time and continued to play AAU basketball. He also grew to 6’7”. Cheadle entered Jewell in the fall of 1984 as an evening division student. His first year he worked during the day, practiced with the basketball team in the afternoon and attended Jewell’s evening division after practice each day. He moved on campus as a sophomore and remained a resident for the rest of his career for the Cards. He was a four year starter who still holds every blocked shots record for the Cardinals. He is also among Jewell’s career scoring and rebounding leaders. During Cheadle’s career the Cardinals won the Heart of America Athletic Conference all four years. Jewell’s record during his career was 109-19 (25-7, 25-4, 27-6, 32-2) including 53-3 in conference play. He was named HAAC 1st Team All-Conference all four years and was the league MVP as a sophomore. He was a 1st Team All-District selection three times and a two time NAIA Honorable Mention All-American. Cheadle majored in physical education and completed his degree at WJC in the spring of 1989. After graduating he played one year of professional basketball in Melbourne Australia from 1989-1990. He was employed by the city of Kansas City Missouri in the Parks and Recreation Department. He currently directs the Kansas City Missouri Brush Creek Recreation Center. Kevin Cheadle and his wife, Cheryl, have three children: Robert, Kayla and Chayla. They reside in Kansas City, Missouri.
