Jewell men's and women's soccer players receives weekly honor from Heart of America Conference Contact: Paul Worstell, 816-415-5959 September 7, 2009
William Jewell senior Theresa Noll (Olathe, Kan.) and junior Annie Shepard (Kansas City, Mo.) have earned weekly honors from the Heart of America Athletic Conference. Noll was named the Women’s Soccer offensive player of the week, while Shepard was named defensive player of the week. On the men’s side William Jewell senior forward Michael Brown (Lee’s Summit, Mo.) was named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer offensive player of the week.
Noll had a hat-trick and an assist against Westminster and followed that great performance with two goals versus University of Sioux Falls. Noll has scored 7 goals in three games this season and has helped lead William Jewell College to a 3-0-0 start.
Shepard played in the midfield last year for the Cardinals but has been converted in to a center back/defender this season. The Lady Cardinals have yet to concede a goal due this season and Sheppard’s play and leadership have helped contribute to that success.
Brown was vital in helping the men’s team stay undefeated last week. Brown scored three goals and added two assists in two games last week.
The men’s and women’s team are both off to a 3-0 start on the year and will take on Park University September 9 on the Park campus in Parkville, Mo. The women will kickoff at 5:00 p.m. and the men will kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
