The Department of Music at William Jewell College presents the Handbell Choir in their Spring Concert on Sunday, April 25, at 3:00 p.m. The concert is in the Sanctuary of the Second Baptist Church, 300 E. Kansas in Liberty, Mo., and is free and open to the public.

The Choir will feature original works and arrangements by Arnold Sherman, Sandra Winter, Lloyd Larson, Douglas Wagner and Martha Lynn Thompson. Student conductors Cody Johnson of Benton, Ark., and Caitlin Flebbe of Raytown, Mo., will be leading the Handbell Choir in arrangements of “What Wondrous Love Is This” with cello soloist Kyle Alexander, St. Louis, Mo, and “Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah.”

An original composition by John T. Bartsch, Jr., “Praise the LORD!” will also be performed. Joining the Handbell Choir for this piece will be the William Jewell College Chapel Choir, under the direction of Robert Mance, organist Ann Posey, and a brass and timpani ensemble comprised of William Jewell students. Also on the program will be an arrangement of “Under the Sea” from the Disney film “The Little Mermaid.”

The Handbell Choir has performed this year at several events on campus and in the metropolitan area in addition to their tour locations in Arkansas. For further information contact Christie White, director, at whitec@william.jewell.edu, or through the Music Office at 816-781-7700, ext. 5204.
