Summary
Full-time, tenure-track position, effective fall 2010.
Qualifications
• Doctorate preferred; ABD completed by August 2010 or outstanding professional experience considered. • Record of excellence as conductor and teacher at the college/university level (beyond graduate assistantships) required. • Public school teaching experience and a liberal arts college background strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
• Conduct the Concert and Chapel Choirs • Coordinate vocal chamber ensembles • Coordinate student teaching (choral) • Promote the visibility of the choral program, locally and regionally • Arrange annual national and/or international tours • Collaborate with instrumental music faculty, the College Organist, and the Chaplain to plan services, concerts, and other events • Teach courses in choral conducting, choral literature, secondary vocal methods, choral/vocal techniques, and applied voice, depending upon the candidate’s interests and expertise • May teach courses in the college’s distinctive core curriculum, based upon interests and teaching load • Recruit students • Serve as an academic advisor and on departmental and college-wide committees • Maintain a record of active professional performance, service, and scholarship
