BARNES AND NOBLE COLLEGE BOOKSELLERS, INC.
PURPOSE: To assist in operating a superior customer oriented, efficient, cost-controlled, well-merchandised, and profitable bookstore that best serves the academic community and Barnes & Noble College Booksellers, Inc.
ACCOUNTABILITY: • To adhere to Company policies and procedures and uphold the standards of superior customer service. • To train and supervise assigned employees whose total hours worked weekly is less than 80 hours. • To meet the store’s sales and inventory goals for assigned departments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Demonstrate and model exceptional customer service behavior and contribute to the success of the Customer Service Program. • Maintain positive campus relationships through direct interaction with the campus faculty and community. • Train, supervise and review the performance of assigned employees under the direction of the Store Manager, Assistant Manager or Department Manager. • Develop and submit the proper paperwork for the designated department in accordance with the Company policies and procedures. • Ensure the Security of all Company assets for your designated department. • Ensure that a clean, functional working environment is maintained with designated department. • Establish effective communication within the department and the store.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, and Skills): • Bachelor’s degree or related experience preferred. • Ability to read and write in English and speak clearly on the phone. • Detail oriented, organizational skills and effective interpersonal skills. • Ability to operate a computer.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: • Ability to lift, bend and reach • Ability to stand for 4 to 8 hours per day. • Ability to sit for 4 hours per day. • Ability to read a computer screen for 3 to 6 hours per day. • Ability to manually operate keyboard or adding machine. • Ability to work quickly.
