Job Title: Custodian (Tuesday - Saturday)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary:
Cleans campus buildings on a daily basis. Helps prepare for special events.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Cleans and disinfects restrooms daily. 2. Dusts, mops, sweeps and/or vacuums classrooms, entrances, hallways and stairways. 3. Straightens chairs and cleans chalkboards. 4. Empties trash receptacles daily. 5. Distributes cleaning supplies and light bulbs to buildings 6. Sets up chairs, tables, risers, podiums, etc., for special events 7. Strips, scrubs and waxes floors 8. Cleans carpets using extraction machine, bonnet method, or foam machine 9. Assist with snow removal as needed 10. Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. High school graduate or equivalent. 2. Reading and writing skills required to read and complete work sheets and work orders. 3. Prior experience preferred 4. Mechanical skills to operate equipment and perform minor repairs 5. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
Working Conditions:
Some overtime may be required involving nights or weekends. Some heavy lifting may be required—up to 75 pounds. Outside work in inclement weather conditions may be required. Exposure to dust and fumes associated with cleaning activities and products. Ability to stand for prolonged periods. Bending, stooping and reaching to operate equipment and perform cleaning activities.
