Summary
The Director of Alumni Services is a full–time professional position. A primary focus of this position is to provide communications and services to alumni in an effort to keep these constituents informed and engaged with William Jewell College. Accordingly, the Director identifies and creates web and print content for alumni and affinity groups, and coordinates the execution of recurring emails and electronic newsletters. In addition, the Director is responsible for ensuring top-notch services to alumni, including providing primary oversight for the online alumni community. The Director is also responsible for managing an effective alumni feedback program primarily utilizing print and online surveys. The Director works closely with the Director of Alumni Programs and Volunteers, the College Webmaster, and the Alumni Board of Governors.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Works diligently to seek and create content for the alumni web site, alumni e-newsletter, affinity-based e-newsletters, and general broadcast emails; provides content suggestions for the alumni magazine - Achieve.
- Provides primary oversight and directly manages the alumni online community, ensuring a broad array of fresh and timely content and relevant communications and services.
- Coordinates an alumni feedback program, primarily utilizing online surveys.
- Coordinates the annual senior activity survey to establish accurate alumni records for our graduating seniors.
- Creates and implements a process to aggressively obtain alumni email addresses to further efforts of electronic communication.
- Assists in implementing a comprehensive alumni communication plan primarily utilizing e-newsletters, broadcast e-mail, and varied web content.
- Serves as a contact person for affinity groups in regard to content development (e.g., newsletters).
- Works with alumni team members to ensure proper education and exposure of the Office of Alumni Relations and the Office of Institutional Advancement to current students.
- Assists with donor “thank you” phone calls.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong writing skills.
- Strong attention to detail and deadlines.
- Computer proficiency, with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and The Raiser’s Edge preferred.
- Strong knowledge of managing and maintaining web sites preferred.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people inside and outside of the Office of Institutional Advancement.
Experience
- Baccalaureate degree or higher required.
- Demonstrated success in meeting aggressive goals.
- Experience in a comparable goal-oriented environment preferred.
- Proven multi-tasking experience in managing ongoing tasks and projects required.
Working Conditions
Standard office environment. May require some evening and/or weekend work.
