Summary
The Food Service Worker serves food from counters and steam tables to cafeteria patrons.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serves salads, vegetables, meat, breads, ladles soups and sauces, portions desserts, and fills beverage cups and glasses as indicated by customers.
- Sets up food items, condiments, and utensils for cafeteria line or snack bar.
- Maintains adequate supply of dishes, utensils, glasses, etc.
- Performs both front and back of house service, food preparation and sanitation duties.
- Adds relishes and garnishes according to directions.
- Scrubs and polishes counters, steam tables, and other equipment.
- May replenish foods at serving stations.
- May brew coffee and tea.
- May carve meat.
- May accept payment for food, using cash register or adding machine to total checks.
- May prepare and serve salads.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Servsafe Certification
- Related food service experience preferred
- Read instructions, rules, etc.
- Mathematical development sufficient to be able to add and subtract. Perform basic arithmetic operations with coins as part of a dollar.
Working Conditions
- Ability to lift 40 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs.
- Significant walking or standing.
- Repetitive tasks.
- Lift and carry trays and dishes.
