This position is responsible for strategically managing a key recruitment region for William Jewell College in order to achieve new student enrollment goals. Reporting directly to the Dean of Admission and Vice President for Enrollment and Student Affairs, this position is responsible for developing and implementing the College’s marketing and recruitment plan for the Saint Louis region. This position will be in charge of several Office of Admission special projects that relate directly to the College’s goal of increasing enrollment within the St. Louis area/eastern Missouri and other key territories. This position requires someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, energy for recruitment work, and self-motivation in completing key goals.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and recruitment plan for the St. Louis region, including planning for proactive outreach to local high schools and high school counselors.
- Manage a recruitment territory, to include prospect management, outreach, recruitment travel, counselor relations, application review and admission decisions.
- Develop and manage relationships with prospective students, parents, college counselors and other influencers through regular interviews, correspondence, and communication throughout the recruitment cycle.
- Provide information sessions for individual students, parents and student groups.
- Assist with or coordinate recruitment events, both on and off campus, including the development of unique recruitment techniques and event ideas to attract and recruit new students.
- Learn and leverage accurate information about the College, its market, and the admission/financial aid process.
- Play a key role in completing special projects for the Office of Admission as outlined by the Dean of Admission.
- Demonstrate leadership with other territory managers during weekly territory management discussions/meetings.
- Assist with campus visitors and programs.
- Work with a variety of College constituents, on and off campus, to promote the College.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Enrollment and Student Affairs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution; Masters degree preferred;
Two to three years of admission/recruitment experience preferred;
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as superior interpersonal skills;
Competitive spirit, self-motivated, and possess a strong work ethic;
Strong analytic ability, creativity, and organizational skills;
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word;
Willingness and ability to work more than 40 hours per week as required, including some evenings/weekends for admission related events;
Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the College’s mission, promise, values, and vision
Working Conditions
Position requires the candidate to live and work in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Normal working/office hours required within the College’s regional office.
Requires work on some evenings and weekends for Office of Admission recruitment events and other College related events.
Ability to travel overnight and out-of-town is required with this position.
