Summary
Responsible for support and management of the College's network and core systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, configure and maintain system and application software on Linux servers, maintain current in-depth knowledge of Linux system management and various aspects of web server administration.
- Provide system administration tasks on the course management server (Moodle), imaging server and intranet server. Support includes upgrades, updates, daily maintenance, security, plans for future growth, troubleshooting hardware and software, performance tuning and end-user support.

Support and manage the College’s card access system and related systems.

Work directly with other IS staff to assist in the support and management of other servers consisting of Windows file, print, Active Directory, Exchange, SQL, and other Windows servers.

Assist with the backup and recovery process on the Windows and Linux servers.

Provide service to end-users through hardware, software and administration support and training activities.

Work closely with the IS staff on technical implementation issues.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new technologies and standards in order to identify areas for future development or enhancement.

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field is required.
- In-depth knowledge of desktop/workstation, hardware/software/operating systems (configuration and connectivity).
- Experience with Linux systems and Apache web server is required.
- Advanced working skills with Windows operating systems and related technologies, including performance measurement and management, security, patching, backups and system management is required.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL, PHP, and MySQL a plus.
- Must be able to respond to customer needs and organize projects.
- Requires strong communication skills and critical thinking skill.
Working Conditions
Normal office environment.
