The #11 nationally ranked William Jewell men's soccer team continued their successful ways with a convincing 6-0 road victory over Culver Stockton College in a Heart of America Athletic Conference game on Saturday, October 14.
The Cardinals took 14 minutes to strike first. WJC freshman forward Matt Happy fed senior midfielder Allan Nekuda, who dribbled past one defender before blasting a left-footed shot into the lower corner. Allan Nekuda combined passes with fellow midfielder Manny Tovar before junior forward John Barber received a pass and drilled a shot from 20 yards. Senior midfielder Dusty Green had a one-time finish to give the Cards a three-goal lead only 25 minutes into the match. Junior midfielder Garrett Jahn scored from 25 yards to give Jewell a 4-0 lead at halftime.
The second half looked similar to the first. Junior defender Josh Howard combined skill and power as he slipped past opponents before scoring from over 30 yards out. Freshman forward Josh Ehrhard scored from a close range rebound to complete the scoring.
"We're moving the ball quickly and playing with confidence," said WJC head coach Chris Cissell. "The team is making an effort to improve every day."
The next game for the Cardinals is Tuesday, October 17, when Jewell will host Benedictine College in Greene Stadium on the campus in Liberty, Mo. The game will kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
