WJC Men’s Soccer win another on the road
The #16 nationally ranked William Jewell College men’s soccer team battled to a hard fought 1-0 win over #15 nationally ranked Grand View College in Des Moines, Iowa. The game featured windy conditions and missed chances. With 29 minutes remaining in the second half, the Cardinals would have a chance they would not miss. Cardinal junior defender Justin Park struck a free kick from 25 yards that found the upper corner of the goal and gave the Cardinals a lead they would not surrender. WJC junior goalkeeper Andy Shields earned the shutout as the Cardinals improved their record to 10-2-0.
“This was a game we had to win with hustle and hard work,” said WJC Head Coach Chris Cissell. “The playing conditions were not ideal but we made the most of the situation we were given.”
The Cardinals next match is on Wednesday vs NCAA Division I UMKC at Rockhurst University. Kickoff has been moved to 7:00 p.m.
