William Jewell College – 2 vs. Baker University – 0
On a beautiful day for soccer, the Jewell men’s JV team squared off against Baker University in Liberty, MO. After a pretty even first half, the teams went into the break deadlocked at 0-0. After halftime, Jewell came out and dominated the next 45 minutes, controlling play and creating numerous opportunities. The first goal, however, came off of a counter-attack. First year defender Alex Hart made a great slide tackle, sending the ball 20 yards downfield right to Josh Ehrhard, who dribbled down the left sideline. First year forward Michael Brown made a great run down the middle and Ehrhard slotted the ball past the keeper across the six yard box for an easy tap in goal by Brown. The two combined for a second goal less than 10 minutes later. Brown drove a cross to Ehrhard in the middle of the field where he flicked the ball past the keeper at a tough angle eight yards from goal. Jewell held on for the 2-0 victory and improved the JV record to 2-0.
