WJC Men’s Soccer Defeat another Nationally Ranked Foe
Saturday night was a battle of nationally ranked teams as #21 nationally ranked William Jewell College traveled to #10 nationally ranked Lindenwood University. Jewell scored the first goal of the game when senior midfielder Allan Nekuda chipped a pass that freshman forward Matt Happy headed into the goal. Lindenwood responded quickly with a header goal of their own just four minutes later to even the score at 1-1.
Ten minutes into the second half junior defender Justin Park hit an unstoppable free kick from 25 yards out that gave WJC a 2-1 lead. WJC junior goalkeeper Andy Shields made several saves in the final 30 minutes to preserve the victory.
“We played with intelligence, skill and effort tonight,” said WJC Head Coach Chris Cissell. “Lindenwood is a very good team. It takes a complete game to beat a team like that on the road.”
