WJC Men’s Soccer Win Again
The #16 nationally ranked William Jewell College men’s soccer team rallied from giving away an early goal to win in overtime in a home conference game versus Mid America Nazarene University. The Cardinals had many second half scoring opportunities but tied the game in the 86th minute when Cardinal junior defender Josh Howard scored from close range.
A rugged style of play continued in overtime. After an MNU foul 40 yards from goal, Jewell junior midfielder Kevin Nekuda placed a free kick that just dropped under the crossbar and eluded the MNU goalkeeper. The sudden death golden goal won the game for William Jewell and improved the Cardinals overall record to 9-2-0 and 4-0-0 in conference.
“We adjusted our game plan to make the most of what little MNU was giving us,” said WJC Head Coach Chris Cissell. “This team has a lot of character and deserved the overtime win.”
The #16 nationally ranked WJC men’s soccer team’s next game is on the road on October 9th, Monday, at #15 nationally ranked Grand View College in Des Moines, Iowa.
