Michael Wiskirchen has signed a Letter of Intent to compete as part of the William Jewell College men’s tennis program in the fall of 2009.
A native of Liberty, Mo., Wiskirchen attends Liberty High School where he has played number one singles and number one doubles for the past two seasons.
“Michael will be a great addition to the tennis program at William Jewell,” said Liberty High School Coach Art Smith. “He’s a big, strong kid, with a great all around skill set. Michael was an integral part of our two district championships in previous years and has yet to reach his ceiling in terms of ability. I think he will have an instant impact on the Jewell program, which is continuing to get better each year under Coach Paul Worstell.”
Wiskirchen also works alongside Coach Worstell in the spring and summer teaching children how to play tennis through the Liberty Parks and Recreation Tennis Program. “Michael was at the top of our recruiting list on the men’s side,” said Coach Worstell. “He is a very talented player and student and possesses a tremendous attitude. I believe his best tennis is ahead and it is exciting that we will get to witness that at William Jewell.”
