Kyle Holt has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete as part of the William Jewell College men’s tennis program in the fall of 2008. A native of Liberty, Mo., Holt attends St. Pius X High School where he excelled on the men’s tennis team. He was a state qualifier in 2007 in doubles as a junior and has played number one singles since his freshman year at St. Pius X. Holt was part of the first doubles team in St. Pius X history to qualify for the state tournament last season. Holt has also been his team’s captain for the last two years.
“Kyle has a ton of potential and comes to us as a strong doubles player with a very competitive spirit,” said Jewell head coach Paul Worstell. “I am looking forward to seeing him develop as a player and a person these next four years at William Jewell.”
Holt has been named to the second team All-Conference team in singles for two years and first team All-Conference in doubles for two years. He also owns the most wins at the number one slot in St. Pius X history.

Jake Szybowicz has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete as part of the William Jewell College men’s tennis program in the fall of 2008. A native of Cary, Ill., Szybowicz attends Cary-Grove High School where he excelled on the men’s tennis team. He was a state qualifier in 2006 and finished 5th in sectional action in 2007 as a junior. He also has won three varsity letters at Cary-Grove High School.
“We targeted Jake as one of our top recruits last summer on the men’s side and someone who was valued highly as the recruiting process developed,” said Jewell head coach Paul Worstell. “Jake is not only an outstanding tennis player, but he is also an outstanding student. We are so honored that he chose William Jewell, and we are excited to have him and his family as part of our program.”
Szybowicz trains at the John Newcomb Tennis Ranch in San Antonio, Texas, which is considered one of the most prestigious tennis academies in the nation. Szybowicz was also recently selected for the academy’s International Travel Team which will be traveling to Europe this summer to compete against top junior players from around the world.
