AUDITION DATES & INFORMATION

You have invested a lot of time, effort and money in learning to sing or play an instrument. Whether or not you are planning to be a music major, you can continue experiencing the rewards of performance through a variety of vocal and instrumental ensembles at William Jewell College. Music scholarships are available to talented musicians regardless of their choice of major. If you wish to be considered for a music scholarship, you will need to audition.

Who?
Any high school senior who is interested in continuing to develop a musical talent in college may audition. Both instrumentalists and vocalists are welcome. You do not need to be planning to major in music.

Scheduled audition days are:
Fri. Oct. 10 Early Audition Day
9:00am - 4:00pm
Thurs. Oct. 30 prior to Journey to Jewell
1:00pm – 4:00pm
Fri. Oct. 31 Journey to Jewell
9:00am - 4:00pm
Fri. Nov. 7 Music Day
8:00am – 4:00pm
Fri. Dec. 5 Jewelltide Auditions
1:00pm – 4:00pm
Mon. Jan. 19 Audition Day
1:00pm - 4:00pm
Fri. Feb. 6 Audition Day
1:00pm - 4:00 pm
Mon. Feb. 13 Audition Day

Sat. Feb. 16 President's Day Audition Day

We encourage you to plan to come on audition days, but we recognize that some students may need to make other arrangements. All auditions must be by appointment. Weekday auditions scheduled between 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. are best. Please contact the Music Department to schedule an appointment.
***After Friday, March 9, scholarships will be awarded only on a funds available basis.

How?
Please call the Music Office (816-415-7537) to schedule an audition. You can also e-mail Anne Aunspaugh in the Music Department at aunspaugha@william.jewell.edu with any further questions. Please schedule an audition at least one week in advance. We can furnish an accompanist or you may bring your own, just let us know. Please do not bring taped accompaniment.

What?
A general guideline for music selections is to prepare standard literature of the type used at District Music Festival. We ask that you bring two solos of contrasting styles, or one solo or etude that demonstrates contrasting styles. Your audition may also include sight-reading and/or tonal memory.
