Distinctive Programs: Overseas Study

Our web pages are in progress. Please, keep checking back, and thanks for your patience!

To become a WJC study abroad student for a semester or a year in one of our 30+ locations, you will need to read the WJC application criteria and submit a WJC application. The WJC application explains that for some programs, additional application materials will be due. Those application materials can be found on the programs’ websites or requested from the Office. Application deadlines for most of our 30+ locations are February 1st of the academic year prior. Deadlines for IES: Barcelona, IES: Dublin, IES: Nagoya, and IES: Rome are January 15th of the academic year prior.

For students who would like to satisfy their foreign language requirement abroad, WJC offers the opportunity to study for part of the summer through CEPE: Guadalajara. For this program, you will need to read the CEPE Summer Info and submit a CEPE Summer Application by March 1st of the prior semester.

The Coordinator of Overseas Study and the Study Abroad Committee at WJC make decisions about applications within a month of receiving them. In some cases administrators of the study abroad programs must also approve the applications, which can take additional time.

A congratulatory letter from WJC, and if the program has to approve its students, from the program as well, constitutes your acceptance into a program. You will have at least two weeks to confirm your acceptance by submitting an acceptance form to the Office. If you confirm your acceptance, sometime during the semester before you go abroad you will participate in COL 220: Study Abroad Orientation. COL 220 is a non-credit course that provides you with some of the information and paperwork you will need before you go.  You will be asked to review and complete forms from the Pre-departure Packet for your particular program and time abroad.

Once you are abroad and after you return, you will be encouraged to keep in touch with campus.  We want to help make your experience abroad the best it can be.  We also want to hear your stories and see your pictures!  Check out Connecting with Campus.
