Science and Technology Management major with an emphasis in Chemistry
Today’s world of high-technology industry requires a sales force and managers who are cross-trained in both business (finance, marketing, human resources) and science and technology. Such training enables industries’ leaders to understand their products' functions and roles in the market. Scientifically literate leaders can better recognize the usefulness of new technology and move rapidly to adapt to changes. Scientific and technical training for managers fosters confidence among employees that their work is understood and that they will receive the resources needed to accomplish assigned tasks. On the other hand, scientists and engineers receive little if any training in business. This leaves them ill-prepared to move into managerial positions as their career advances. Scientists and engineers who choose to make an entrepreneurial move, as often happens during the course of their careers, have little knowledge of how to begin and operate in the business arena.
William Jewell College offers majors in Scientific and Technology Management with emphases in chemistry, biology, and physics.
