Service-Learning is a key component of a Jewell education, and students can fulfill this commitment in many ways.

Current Opportunities

 Pritchard Humanitarian Service Award

The Pritchard Humanitarian Service Award is provided by and named for the founders and nurturers of Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City who, for over two decades sought strong and effective ways to interact with “God’s people in need.” The Award annually goes to two or three William Jewell students who commit to engaging with people in need, developing relationships with people different from them in all fundamental aspects, and learning about their unique gifts and about what God calls them to do with those gifts.

Use Classroom Knowledge—NOW—in a Practical Work Experience

Here’s a chance to build your resume by coordinating and facilitating a youth development program that partners Kansas City young people with local non-profit organizations. Working closely with the staff of Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph’s Concepts for Effective Services III program you will act as a liaison between the youth participants and 20 to 40 Kansas City non-profits. Excellent networking opportunity. This would require a commitment of a minimum of 20 hours per month through September 2010; it is an unpaid internship. The qualified individual should have an interest in youth development, nonprofit management and volunteer coordination. Contact volunteer@ccharities.com or 816.714.2377 for more information.
