Community School of Music

Lessons at the Community School of Music are offered on a weekly basis from June through August, with the possibility of continuing into the fall. All instructors have at least a Bachelor’s degree in music. Price varies by instructor and length of lesson. Instruction is offered throughout the week. Specific lessons times depend on instructor availability.

There is a one-time registration fee of $10.00 for all new students. Students will need their own practice instrument (electric keyboard is acceptable for beginning piano students).

These camps are a great place for players of all ages to experience early success and build a confident self-image as a player and person. We encourage you to attend and find out why many consider our camp the BEST IN THE MIDWEST! Over 650 campers attended last year.

For boys and girls entering grades 5-12 next fall (younger campers may attend with the permission of Camp Director Larry Holley).

  • Time/Date: Camps offered in June and July; download the brochure for details
  • Capacity: 160 campers per session. Camps run from 3:00 p.m. Sunday through 11:00 a.m. Thursday.
  • Fees: Fees are $325 for resident and $250 for commuter (lunch and
    dinner included).
  • Arrangements can be made for late arrivals and early departures by contacting Larry Holley.
  • All camps have air conditioned dorms. Coaches may bring teams to these camps also.


 2008 All-Star Soccer Camps

Boasting men’s and women’s soccer programs that have each reached the National Final Four in the past five years, few schools in the country have risen to the top of college soccer as quickly. Jewell also hosts one of the nation’s most successful soccer camp programs.

Directed by Chris Cissell, 2006 NSCAA/adidas National Coach of the Year, the William Jewell College All Star Soccer Camps provide residential camps that educate the young player, challenge the select player and highlight the elite high school college soccer prospect. Day or evening camps, as well residential are offered June through July, and there's even a camp specially designed for goalkeepers!

2008 William Jewell Football Camps

The William Jewell Cardinal Football program will host four different types of camps in the Summer of 2008.

It all gets underway with a 7-on-7 Passing Tournament for High School Teams and a 6-on-6 Passing Tournament for High School Teams. Entry fees are $20.00 per player. Next, the Cardinals will host a Youth Football Skills Camp for grades 3-8 on June 2 and 3. The cost for this camp is $70.00.

The Cards then host a Full Contact Team Camp for 8-man and11-man schools. The camp will consist of daily fundamental sessions and a chance for your team to work on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. The cost is $100 per player for day campers and $150 for overnight campers.

The last camp of the summer will feature Jewell’s first ever Punting, Kicking and Snapping Camp designed for kickers,punters,and snappers to develop the tools necessary to be successful at any level.

One Life - One Week - One Neighborhood - One Spirit

The Matthew 25 Project 2008: kNOw Greater Love

A transformational experience for students as they improve housing in Kansas City's urban core.

A diverse group of students will gather on Jewell’s campus for the purpose of transforming an urban Kansas City neighborhood. Rakes and brooms, paintbrushes and hammers will be the tools used by crews to minister to households needing repairs. Each evening we will gather for worship and leadership development activities.

There is still room for you to join this effort. Scholarships are still available.

Summer Science Camps

The Jewell Academy for Women in Science (JAWS) and the Jewell Academy for Men in Science (JAMS) will be hosting residential summer camps for rising 7th- and 8th-graders.

Student participants will be exposed to biology, chemistry, ecology, physics, computer science and bioethics through hands-on laboratory learning. Evenings will feature less-structured science enrichment activities. In addition to the science curriculum, the camp will feature extensive leadership training, goal-setting, teambuilding and cooperation skills, and personal development.

The JAWS camp for girls is scheduled to take place June 15-21; the JAMS camp for boys is scheduled for June 22-28. In order to participate, students must attend the entire camp. Lodging and meals will be provided for campers in William Jewell’s residence halls and dining facilities throughout the week. The cost for the camp is $200, but scholarships are available on a sliding scale.
