Tom Eisenhauer
Head Cross Country and Track and Field Coach

 

     Tom Eisenhauer, a member of the William Jewell College class of 2006, has been named the Head Cross Country and Track and Field Coach at William Jewell.

Eisenhauer has served as the College’s Head Cross Country Coach and Assistant Track and Field Coach since August of 2008. The part-time cross country and track and field coaching positions were recently combined into a full-time position. Eisenhauer assumed his expanded role at William Jewell July 1, 2009.

“I have a passion for helping others, and I enjoy building relationships,” said Eisenhauer. “In this position, I want to enrich the lives of the College’s student-athletes by cultivating character, integrity, responsibility, discipline and confidence.”

Eisenhauer received his M.S. in education, health and physical education from Northwest Missouri State University in 2009. He earned a B.A. in history with a minor in coaching and performance enhancement from William Jewell in 2006.

“Tom brings a high level of commitment as well as proven coaching ability to this newly expanded position,” said Dr. Darlene Bailey, Director of Athletics and Chair of the Department of Physical Education at William Jewell College. “With the elevation of the cross country and track and field coaching position to full-time status, we look forward to enhancing the experience for our student-athletes and emerging as an even more competitive force in this arena. I am also pleased that Tom will have an important role as an instructor in the physical education program.”

During his time as a student at William Jewell, Eisenhauer was a four-time recipient of the Cardinal Scholar Athlete Award. He was a track and field athlete and served as a photographer and sports writer for The Hilltop Monitor, the College’s student newspaper. He holds the College’s record in the 4x400m relay and the 600m dash. He qualified for the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field nationals in the 400m hurdles in 2006. He was also a member of the Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society.

 
 
Ted Graves
Throws 
 
 
      2009-10 marks the 30th season Coach Graves has been involved with WJC T&F as a team member, supporter and coach. Starting as a member of the team from 1979-1983, Coach Graves was a three-time conference champ in the discus, the school record holder when he graduated and served as a team captain for Coach Larry Hamilton’s team in 1983. He was Head Track Coach at nearby Kearney High School for 13 years, was Assistant Coach/Throws at WJC from 1999 to 2004 and Head T&F Coach at Jewell from 2005-2009. This year he is back in the position he loves most, that of Assistant Coach for the Throwing events. Coach Graves has USAT&F Level 1 certification in the throwing events and has coached nearly all of the WJC school record holders. Under his direction, 14 different throwers have qualified for nationals and WJC throwers have won over 25 conference titles. Coach Graves, his wife Julie and their 2 daughters, Rachel and Meredith, live in Liberty.
 

Brad Cox
Pole Vault
 


Brad Cox will starting his first season as an assistant for the Cardinals.  Cox graduated from Plattsburg High School in 2000 where he was an All-State pole vaulter for two years and competed in sprints and hurdles. He was also captain of the Football and Basketball teams in high school. After graduation he joined the Army, and continued to compete in the 400H and 800M run.

After the 4 years in the Military Cox attended Northwest Missouri State University where he picked up pole vaulting again and lettered.  He also coached 3 high school pole vaulters while at NWMSU, for a duration of 2 years. 

Cox is married (Bridget) and has one child (daughter Lily), with a second one on the way.


 

Kevin McDougal
Distance 


     Kevin McDougal enters his first season as an assistant coach at Jewell.    McDougal is a graduate of Kearney High School where he was a 7-time state medalist in class 3.  In 2000 he led the cross country team to a state title and finished second overall as an individual.  He then attended Cowley County Community College from 2001-2003 where he was a 10-time national qualifier, three-time All-American, four-time All Region 16, and 5-time All-Conference Jayhawk East.  He then attended Wichita State University from 2003-2005.  As a Shocker,  McDougal earned All- Conference honorable mention and graduated in 2006 with degree in Sports Administration.
