Ryan Majors, a 7-year veteran football coach, has been named as an offensive assistant for the William Jewell College football program.
Coach Majors has spent the last five seasons as the head football coach at Shawnee Mission North High School. While at Shawnee Mission North, Majors was a two-time Kansas City Chiefs Coach of The Week award winner and has helped place 12 athletes to various levels of college football. Prior to coaching at Shawnee Mission North, Majors served as a graduate assistant coach for Pittsburg State University coaching the wide receivers and assisting in recruiting. Majors will begin in his new position January 1, 2010.
“Ryan’s football knowledge at the NCAA Division II level both as a player and a coach will help make our move into the Great Lakes Valley Conference a seamless transition” said Jewell head coach Jerod Kruse. “He has a very good understanding of the Kansas City recruiting environment and brings with him the ability to lead and motivate young men both on the field and off. I am extremely excited about the addition of Coach Majors to our coaching staff and institution.”
Majors played quarterback while he attended Emporia State University from 1998-02 and was a three-year captain while playing for ESU.
A native of Overland Park, Kan., Majors earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from ESU in 2003. Majors went on to earn his Masters of Science degree in Educational Leadership from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kan. in 2006.
