Kyle Taylor has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete as part of the William Jewell College men’s tennis program in the fall of 2007. Taylor is one of the top-ranked players in the Missouri Valley this year in his age grouping. A native of St. Joseph, Mo., Taylor attends Central High School where he played number one singles as a junior in 2006. He also qualified for the state tournament, where he finished ninth.
"Kyle was our top recruit on the men’s side and someone we became very impressed with as we got to know him throughout the recruiting process," said Jewell head coach Paul Worstell. "I know a lot of other schools were interested in him, and I am so thrilled he chose to come to William Jewell. I believe he will be a great addition to us academically and athletically."
Taylor trains at Mike Wolf Tennis Academy in Overland Park, Kan., which is considered one of the most prestigious tennis academies in the nation. Kyle also stays very active in his community doing volunteer work at Heartland Hospital, Special Olympics, March of Dimes, and has taught free tennis lessons to elementary children in the St. Joseph area. Taylor, who finished his junior campaign with a record of 20-7, was named to the All-Conference team and was also named an All-District performer last season as a junior.
