William Jewell women’s tennis signs recruit Contact: Rob Eisele, 816- 415-7574 April 16, 2009
Kelsie George has signed a Letter of Intent to compete as part of the William Jewell College women’s tennis program in the fall of 2009.
A native of Gardner, Kan., George attends Gardner-Edgerton High School where she has played number-two singles and number-one doubles for the past two seasons. George is a two-time state qualifier and this past season George and her doubles partner finished third at the Kansas 5A State Tennis Tournament. George and her partner finished the season 31-3 and were the first Gardner players to place at state in 17 years. George was also named to the 2008 Kansas 5A All-State Team.
Off the court, George was named 2008 Homecoming Queen along with being involved in National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and is currently the worship leader for The Journey Youth Ministries at New Life Community Church.
“I am excited that Kelsie has chosen to continue playing tennis in college here at Jewell,” said head coach Paul Worstell. “She is a great student, a great athlete and also possesses a tremendous attitude. I believe she will make an outstanding addition to our team.”
