William Jewell’s Paul Worstell reaches 50 wins Contact: Rob Eisele, 816-415-7574 April 9, 2009
Already the program's all-time leader in wins, head women’s tennis coach Paul Worstell became the only coach in Jewell women’s tennis history to reach 50 career victories as the Jewell women’s tennis team defeated Johnson County Community College on Wednesday, April 8 at JCCC in Overland Park, Kan.
Now in his fourth season at Jewell, Worstell continues to keep the program on the rise. In 2006, his first as head coach of the Cardinals, Worstell led the team to his best record in school history at 18-2. He has also led the squad to one conference title (2006), one region final (2006) and two consecutive region semi-finals (2007, 2008). The Cardinals are currently ranked first in the Heart of America Athletic Conference and ranked 31st in the NAIA national poll.
Overall, Worstell currently sports a 50-31 (.620) record as head coach of the Jewell women’s team.
“I have been so blessed to be surrounded by some great players and coaches here at Jewell,” said Worstell. “This accomplishment would not have happened without the hard work and dedication of our players and coaches.”
Jewell, 6-7 on the year, will host conference rival Baker University on Tuesday, April 14 on the Jewell Campus in Liberty.
