Athletics: Women's Soccer 2006
 WJC women’s soccer players earn All-American honors December 5, 2006
Four members of the William Jewell women’s soccer team were named National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics All-Americans. Midfielders Megan Gray and Ashley Tanner, forward Nicole Revenaugh and defender Megan Penrod were all named as an Honorable Mention All-Americans.
All four players were first team All-Conference selections in the very competitive Heart of America Athletic Conference. Coach Chris Cissell is glad to see them recognized nationally.
“Our girls worked really hard this season and they deserve the conference, region and now national awards that they have been given,” said Cissell. “We are going to work very hard this off-season and come back even stronger in 2007.”
The Cardinals finished their season 14-4-2 with a second place finish in the HAAC and a third place finish in Region V.
William Jewell players dominate Heart of America All Conference Team
The William Jewell College women’s soccer team set a Heart of America Conference record by placing 8 players on the All-Conference team. Defender Megan Penrod, midfielders Megan Gray and Ashley Tanner and forward Nicole Revenaugh were named to the Heart of America All-Conference first team. Defender Erica Greco was named to the All-Conference Second team. Defender Kathleen Hatfield, sophomore midfielder Katie Brooks and senior forward Abby Mott were named to the All-Conference Third team. In addition, Megan Penrod was named the HAAC Defensive Player of the Year.
“The appreciation and respect of our Jewell players and team was evident in the All Conference selections,” said WJC Head Coach Chris Cissell. “We have had outstanding performances this season and we have more good soccer remaining.”
