William Jewell College women’s tennis announces transfer
April 11, 2008

Rebekah Lynn, a standout tennis player for Fort Hays State University, will be joining the William Jewell Cardinals women’s tennis team in August 2008 as a transfer.

As a high school player at Blue Valley West High School she was one of the top tennis players in the state of Kansas. She finished fourth in the 5A State Championships her senior year while attending Blue Valley West High School after transferring from Bishop Miege High School. While at Bishop Miege, she finished third in doubles at the 5A State Championships her sophomore year, and fifth in singles as a freshman.

At Fort Hays State Lynn was able to play in the varsity lineup and regularly played in the top three singles and doubles positions. She also earned a varsity letter competing during her freshman year.

“I know Rebekah’s game and her personality very well,” said head coach Paul Worstell. “I am thrilled that she is coming to Jewell. I have no doubt that she is going to do some special things in the class room and on the courts at William Jewell.”

Lynn, a native of Stillwell, Kan., will join her Cardinal teammates this fall as a junior.

“I am looking forward to getting a great education at William Jewell and working hard for the tennis team,” said Lynn. “I am very excited about being in a new environment again and meeting new teammates, and I look forward to the opportunity.”

William Jewell women’s tennis signs recruit

Tiffany Busbea has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete as part of the William Jewell College women’s tennis program in the fall of 2008.

A native of Blue Springs, Mo., Busbea attends Blue Springs High School, where she has played number five singles and number one doubles. Busbea is a two-year letter winner at Blue Springs and also served as the president of the Blue Springs Students Against Drunk Driving chapter.
“Tiffany has such a great attitude and she has so much potential in her,” said William Jewell’s head tennis coach Paul Worstell. “She is very athletic and I am looking forward to working with her and having her as a part of our program.”

William Jewell women’s tennis signs recruit

Carolyn Klenda has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete as part of the William Jewell College women’s tennis program in the fall of 2008.

A native of Salina, Kan., Klenda attends Sacred Heart High School where she has played number one and two singles and number one doubles for the past three seasons. Klenda is a three-time state qualifier and this past season Carolyn and her doubles partner finished second at the Kansas State Tennis Tournament.

Klenda intends to pursue a major in Business at William Jewell. According to Head Coach Paul Worstell, Carolyn’s state tournament experience will benefit the Cardinals.

“I am thrilled to have someone with such big match experience as Carolyn has had,” Worstell said. “Not only is she a great player and very athletic, but she is an outstanding student as well. I am really looking forward to seeing her grow as a player and as a person here at William Jewell.”

William Jewell women’s tennis signs recruit
February 5, 2008

Tanya Ratana has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete as part of the William Jewell College women’s tennis program in the fall of 2008. Ratana is one of the top-ranked players in the United States Tennis Association this year in her age grouping and is ranked as one of the top 55 seniors in the state of Texas.

A native of Coppell, Texas, Ratana attends Coppell High School where she has played number one singles and number one mixed doubles for the past two seasons. Last season Tanya and her mixed doubles partner advanced to the second round of the state playoffs.

“Tanya wants to get a good education and play at a school where she feels she can make a contribution,” said Coppell High School coach Jane Jackson. “I know it was a very well researched decision to choose William Jewell, and I am so happy for her and her family.”


Ratana intends to pursue a major in nursing at William Jewell. According to Cardinals head coach Paul Worstell, she will make an immediate impact next year
“I am thrilled that Tanya and her family have chosen to be a part of our program at Jewell,” said Worstell. “She is a very talented player, and there were a lot of other schools interested in her. I believe she will be a great addition to our team.”
