William Jewell women’s tennis signs recruit
April 16, 2009

Kelsie George has signed a Letter of Intent to compete as part of the William Jewell College women’s tennis program in the fall of 2009.

A native of Gardner, Kan., George attends Gardner-Edgerton High School where she has played number-two singles and number-one doubles for the past two seasons. George is a two-time state qualifier and this past season George and her doubles partner finished third at the Kansas 5A State Tennis Tournament. George and her partner finished the season 31-3 and were the first Gardner players to place at state in 17 years. George was also named to the 2008 Kansas 5A All-State Team.

Off the court, George was named 2008 Homecoming Queen along with being involved in National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and is currently the worship leader for The Journey Youth Ministries at New Life Community Church.

“I am excited that Kelsie has chosen to continue playing tennis in college here at Jewell,” said head coach Paul Worstell. “She is a great student, a great athlete and also possesses a tremendous attitude. I believe she will make an outstanding addition to our team.”

William Jewell women’s tennis signs recruit
February 24, 2009

Hana Lindbloom has signed a Letter of Intent to compete as part of the William Jewell College women’s tennis program in the fall of 2009.

A native of De Soto, Kan., Lindbloom attends De Soto High School where she has played number-one singles and number-one doubles for the past three seasons. Lindbloom is a four-time state qualifier and this past season Lindbloom and her doubles partner finished fifth at the Kansas 4A State Tennis Tournament. She reached the state tourney in doubles play the previous three years, finishing third once and second twice. She also has earned second team Johnson county All-Star tennis team, Honorable Mention Kansas City Metro team awards, and All-State honors in tennis.

“Hana is a gifted all-around player,” said Lindbloom’s High School Coach Michael Sullivan. “She combines a power game with a soft touch. What really sets her apart is her dedication and love of the sport. Spending hours and hours on the court is what she wants to do.”

Off the court, Lindbloom has been heavily involved in the Band Program at De Soto High School. She has been the drum major for the past two years; she has received four consecutive one ratings at state solo and ensemble contests, and has been a student leader for three years in Band. She has also been part of the DHS Symphonic Band and the DHS Jazz Band.

Lindbloom intends to pursue a major in music education at William Jewell and according to Head Coach Paul Worstell will make an impact on the team next year.

“Hana came highly recommended to us,” said head coach Paul Worstell. “Once we got further into the recruiting process with Hana we realized what a special student and tennis player she is and we are very excited that she chose to continue to play tennis and earn her degree at William Jewell.”

William Jewell women’s tennis signs recruit

Jaimie Baker has signed a Letter of Intent to compete as part of the William Jewell College women’s tennis program in the fall of 2009.

A native of Chillicothe, Mo., Baker attends Chillicothe High School where she has played number-two singles and number-one doubles for the past four seasons. Baker is a two-time state qualifier and this past season Baker and her doubles partner finished fourth at the Missouri State Tennis Tournament. She has also earned All-Conference, All-District and All-State awards while playing at Chillicothe. She was named to the St. Joseph News Press All-Area Tennis Team all four years of her high school career as well.

“I am very excited and proud that Jaimie has chosen to continue her tennis career at the college level, and especially at William Jewell,” said Baker’s High School Coach and mother Amy Baker. “It is a tremendous opportunity for her to be involved with a great group of people, continue to play the sport she loves, and get an education at a very respected institution.”

Off the court, Baker was named 2008 Homecoming Queen along with being involved in student council, band, Spanish Club, Future Farmers of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and National Honor Society.

“Jaimie was someone we targeted early in the recruiting process and we are thrilled that she chose to come to William Jewell,” said head coach Paul Worstell. “She is very coachable, athletic and she is also a great student. I am looking forward to having her and her family as a part of our program.”

William Jewell women’s tennis signs recruit
December 29, 2008

Carli Bisesi has signed a Letter of Intent to compete as part of the William Jewell College women’s tennis program in the fall of 2009. Bisesi is a ranked player in the Missouri Valley this year in her age grouping. A native of Wildwood, Mo., Bisesi attends Lafayette High School where she played the number-three singles slot as a senior in 2008. Her team finished undefeated in regular season and was a runner-up in District and Sectional play. She earned awards for Most Singles Wins and Most Overall Wins on her team as a senior in 2008. Bisesi also saw success in the classroom at Lafayette, as she was named a scholar-athlete for four years and a Renaissance Honor Student for four years as well.

“I am extremely excited to have Carli and her family in our program,” said Jewell head coach Paul Worstell. “I was very impressed with her during the recruiting process, and I am looking forward to seeing her game develop further. She will be a welcome addition to the Jewell community, both academically and athletically.”

Bisesi trains at The Miller Tennis Academy in Chesterfield, Mo., which is considered one of the premier tennis academies in the state. Carli also stays very active in the community doing volunteer work for the United States Tennis Association wheelchair tennis championships and participating in Rebuilding St. Louis, an inner-city housing rehab project.
