The Lydia Lovan Community School of Music

For more than 40 years, the Lydia Lovan Community School of Music has been offering quality music instruction to the community. Instruction is offered for most instruments as well as voice. Lessons are taught weekly in Pillsbury Music Center at William Jewell College.

Instructors and Rates

The Community School program includes college professors and community instructors. Instructors are required to have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in music, and most have graduate degrees in music. Occasionally the music department will approve a college student to teach for our program, providing that they meet the department’s requirements. Each instructor sets his/her own rate. There is a one-time registration fee of $10 for all new students. Please contact us for information about specific instructors and fees.

Recitals

Recitals are offered monthly during the school year. These events are open to all Community School students. Recitals are usually on Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m., and they are open to the public. Please contact us for specific recital dates and times.

Weather Cancellation Policy

The Community School of Music follows the actions of the Liberty School District. If the Liberty School District cancels school or evening activities due to weather, then the Community School of Music will also be closed.
