Elizabeth Sperry, Ph.D.


Professor of Philosophy and Chair; Senior Tutor of the Oxbridge Honors Program Core Curriculum, Oxbridge History of Ideas, Philosophy

Dr. Sperry’s teaching and scholarship focus on American philosophy, social philosophy, epistemology, feminist theory and moral psychology. Her publications include “The Contested Marriage of Rorty and Feminism” in A Companion to Rorty (Wiley Blackwell, ed. Alan Malachowski, 2020) and “Dupes of Patriarchy: Feminist Strong Substantive Autonomy’s Epistemological Weaknesses” (Hypatia, 2013). Dr. Sperry is president of the North American Society for Social Philosophy.
