Because student’s financial award is based on information provided on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the student (and student’s parent(s) if applicable), which may include living arrangements while attending William Jewell College, the College must have an adequate system to identify conflicting information and must resolve any conflicting information concerning student’s financial aid eligibility. If a student is suspected of misreporting information to increase student aid eligibility or to fraudulently obtain federal funds, the student will be reported to the U.S. Office of the Inspector General. Please check to confirm that you have read and understand Jewell’s residency policy. Roommate & Residence Hall Placement*As part of the College student development philosophy, and College policy, all new first-year Jewell students are required to have a roommate. The College makes every effort to accommodate roommate and residence hall placement requests. Applications with reciprocating roommate requests seeking placement in the same residence hall are more likely to be accommodated. Roommate assignments and building placement are at the College's discretion. Please check to confirm that you have read and understand Jewell’s Roommate & Residence Hall Placement policy. Residential Policy AppealStudents may petition the College for exemption from the residency and/or meal plan requirement based on existing medical/health conditions, financial hardship, or other extenuating circumstances. The College only considers appeals of extreme circumstance. Applications must be complete with all required supporting documentation and outline all grounds for the requested exemption. Exemption applications will be reviewed by appropriate staff members from the Student Life Office, the Financial Aid Office or the 504 & Compliance Coordinator's office. Appeals must be submitted no later than July 1 for the fall semester and December 15 for the spring semester. Appeals must be submitted on-line at Appeal Form. Complete details about the appeal process are outlined on the appeal form. Submission of the campus housing application is still required, even if appealing for an exemption.
