Quiroga selected as Rhodes Global Scholarship finalist

Thais Quiroga of La Paz, Bolivia, was one of 11 students worldwide selected as a finalist for the Rhodes Global Scholarship. Administered by the Rhodes Trust in Oxford England, finalists completed interviews in Oxford, and two recipients were awarded two years of funding at the University of Oxford. The Selection Committee cites the finalists as young people of outstanding intellect, character, leadership and commitment to service who are motivated to promote international understanding and peace.

Quiroga plans to combine her majors in international relations and Oxbridge History of Ideas for a career in children’s rights, focusing on child labor and human trafficking. Last year, she studied philosophy, politics, and economics at Mansfield College, University of Oxford, and won the Visiting Student Prize. The award is given to one visiting student each year, recognizing outstanding academic performance.
