Accounting

Our accounting majors do it all, from internships and collaborative projects with businesses to Cardinal Athletics, Student Senate and the student newspaper.

Goals for Student Learning

As an accounting majors, you will learn to discern the substance of economic events, apply financial models and gain experience through career mentoring and internship opportunities. Accounting majors at Jewell are leaders as well as decision-makers, strategic partners and critical thinkers.

Graduates obtaining the Bachelor of Science degree with a major in accounting will understand the financial and non-financial decision-making relationships (models) and use those for communicating information. You will master written and oral presentations and understand the ethical standards of the accounting profession. Jewell uses the functional core accounting competencies suggested for the profession by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Management Accountants.

*The William Jewell College Accounting program requires 124 credit hours to complete a degree in accounting and was not designed to meet the 150 credit hour requirement necessary for eligibility to take the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam.
