U.S. News & World Report names Jewell No. 8 Best Midwest College


William Jewell College was named a U.S. News and World Report Best College in the 2022Ā rankings, tying for No. 8 of 87 schools in the Best Midwest Colleges category. Jewell was the highest ranked college in the Kansas City-area. In the Best Value Schools, Jewell ranked No. 18.

U.S. News & World Report has been ranking colleges and universities since 1983. The latest edition assesses 1,466 four-year colleges and universities on 17 measures of academic quality. Jewell is in the Midwest Regional Colleges category, comprised of the 87 top-ranked colleges in 12 states. Colleges are rated by metrics with the most weight placed on outcomes, including not only the ability of a college to retain and graduate its students from different socioeconomic backgrounds but also their graduatesā€™ average indebtedness. U.S. News also collected data points on class size, academic reputation, investments in instruction and student services, graduation and retention rates, selectivity for admission, financial resources per student, social mobility, student excellence, and alumni giving rate, among others.
