William Jewell College Terms and Conditions of Use These Terms and Conditions of Use govern your access to and use of the William Jewell College website (jewell.edu), digital platforms, online forms, and SMS/text messaging programs operated by William Jewell College.

These Terms and Conditions of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the William Jewell College website (jewell.edu), digital platforms, online forms, and SMS/text messaging programs operated by William Jewell College ("College," "we," "us," or "our"), located at 500 College Hill, Liberty, MO 64068.
By accessing our website, submitting an inquiry form, applying for admission, or opting into any College communication program, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please discontinue use of our website and services.
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and William Jewell College. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective upon posting to our website with an updated effective date. Your continued use of our website or services after any such change constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.
2. Educational Institution
William Jewell College is a private liberal arts institution of higher education accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The College operates in compliance with federal and state laws applicable to educational institutions, including but not limited to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the CAN-SPAM Act, and applicable Missouri state laws.
Use of our website, services, and communications programs is subject to all applicable federal and state educational regulations.
3. Website Use and Acceptable Use Policy
You may use the William Jewell College website for lawful purposes only. You agree not to:

4. SMS / Text Messaging Terms & A2P Compliance
IMPORTANT: By providing your mobile phone number and opting in to receive text messages from William Jewell College, you consent to receive recurring automated and manually dialed SMS/MMS messages. Consent is not a condition of enrollment or purchase. Message and data rates may apply.
William Jewell College uses Application-to-Person (A2P) 10-digit long code (10DLC) and/or short code messaging to communicate with prospective students, enrolled students, alumni, and other authorized individuals. These messages may include admissions information, enrollment reminders, financial aid updates, campus safety alerts, event notifications, and other College-related communications.
4.1 How to Opt In
You may opt in to receive SMS messages from William Jewell College by:
• Submitting your mobile phone number on an inquiry, application, or web form and checking the SMS consent box.
• Verbally providing consent to a College representative.
• Texting a designated keyword to a College short code or long code number.
4.2 How to Opt Out (STOP)
To stop receiving text messages from William Jewell College at any time, reply STOP to any text message from the College. You will receive a final confirmation message and will be removed from our messaging list immediately.
You may also opt out by:
• Emailing helpdesk@jewell.edu with "SMS OPT-OUT" in the subject line.
After opting out, you may continue to receive transactional or emergency messages required by law or necessary to protect your health and safety or that of others.

4.4 Message Frequency and Rates
Message frequency varies by program and time of year. Standard message and data rates may apply. You are responsible for any charges assessed by your mobile carrier. William Jewell College is not responsible for any fees charged by your carrier.
4.5 SMS Privacy — No Third-Party Sharing
William Jewell College will never sell, share, or disclose your mobile phone number or SMS opt-in data to third parties for marketing purposes.
Information collected in connection with our SMS messaging programs, including your mobile phone number and messaging consent records, is used solely to deliver College communications to you. This information is not sold, rented, traded, or shared with any third-party organization for marketing, advertising, lead generation, or any other commercial purpose. All SMS data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable law.
4.6 Supported Carriers
SMS messaging is available through most major U.S. wireless carriers. Carrier support is not guaranteed. The College is not liable for delays or failures in message delivery resulting from carrier issues, network outages, or technical errors beyond our control.
5. FERPA and Student Education Records
William Jewell College complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Student education records are confidential and will not be disclosed to third parties without the written consent of the eligible student, except as permitted or required by law. Students retain the rights afforded to them under FERPA, including the right to inspect and review education records, request amendments, and consent to disclosures. 6. Protection of Student Information
William Jewell College does not sell, share, or disclose student personal information to third parties for commercial or marketing purposes.
William Jewell College is committed to the highest standards of student data privacy. The College does not share, sell, rent, or otherwise transfer student personal information, education records, or any data collected through our admissions, enrollment, or digital communications processes to third-party organizations for marketing, advertising, data brokerage, or other commercial purposes. Student information is held in strict confidence and used exclusively to support the academic programs, student services, and institutional operations of the College.
Disclosure of student information may occur only in the following limited circumstances:
• To College officials and authorized personnel with a legitimate educational interest.
• To vendors and service providers engaged to perform services on behalf of the College, under written agreements that restrict their use of the data to College-specified purposes.
