Washington Monthly ranks Jewell in top 10% for impact on the public good

In its 2025 College Guide and Rankings, Washington Monthly ranked 1,421 four-year public and private colleges and universities nationwide based on their contribution to the public good in four categories: access, affordability, outcomes and promoting public service.

William Jewell College was in the Bachelor’s division of colleges and universities that award mostly four-year degrees. Jewell ranked in several categories, and in the top 10 percent of the 210 Bachelor’s Colleges for graduates who earn a Ph.D. and alumni salaries.

Of the top 210 Bachelor’s Colleges, here's how Jewell ranked:

  • No. 6: graduates who go on to earn a Ph.D. (top 3%)
  • No 14: Predicted earnings (top 10%)
  • No. 17: earnings 9 years after college entry (top 10%)
  • No. 27: service rank
  • No. 30: service oriented majors
  • No. 49: Graduation rate performance
  • No. 55: net price rank
  • No. 57: Outcomes rank
  • No. 60: overall ranking for Contributing to the Public Good
  • No 71: affordability rank

Among nearly 400 top colleges in all categories in the Midwest, Jewell was named to the 2025 Best Bang for the Buck list, ranking in the top third for outcomes. Washington Monthly selects these schools based on “how well they help non-wealthy students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices.” The list is created by isolating the access, affordability, and outcomes metrics from the main rankings.
