William Jewell College is committed to ensuring that all events, programs, and activities open to the public are accessible to those with disabilities as required by law.

Event coordinators and program directors will be responsible for accepting requests for accommodations for their events, and are encouraged to contact the Director of Accessibility Services if any assistance is needed in procuring those accommodations. The contact information for this individual can be located at www.jewell.edu/accessibility-services.

In order to effectively provide an auxiliary aid or service to an individual with a disability, the College must provide the opportunity for an individual to make this request.  Therefore, printed or electronic marketing materials for any public event that is sponsored by the College should include an accommodation notice.  Marketing materials can include brochures, posters, invitations, mailings, emails, and websites. It is not necessary to include the notice in communications for routine or standing meetings for small groups, when it is known that no one in the group is in need of an accommodation.

A template is provided below:

“For questions about accessibility or to request accommodations for this event, please contact (insert phone and email here) or (TTY: 711) two weeks before the event, or as soon as the need is realized.”

Auxiliary aids that would result in an undue burden, (i.e., “significant difficulty or [extreme] expense”) or in a fundamental alteration in the nature of the goods or services are not required by the regulation. However, a covered entity must still furnish another auxiliary aid, if available, that does not result in a fundamental alteration or an undue burden.
